Dr. Khalid Zafar
Khalid Zafar, MD trained in internal medicine and subspecialty of nephrology at the prestigious University of Illinois Chicago. He has been practicing and teaching clinical nephrology since 1995. He is a clinical assistant professor of medicine at OUWB School of Medicine.
He speaks English, Hindi and Urdu.
His philosophy of practicing nephrology is to cater to the individual needs of each patient; not to overwhelm them with difficult diagnostic terms but to explain to them the nature of their ailment.

Dr. Abhishek Swami
Abhishek Swami, MD, is a graduate of Sardar Patel Medical College, Rajasthan University. He trained in Internal Medicine at All India institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi- A premier institute in India- before coming to USA. Here He completed his Internal Medicine Residency at William Beaumont Hospital and then went on to do nephrology fellowship at the Temple University Hospital in Philadelphia.
Dr Swami specializes in the management of kidney diseases, including acute & chronic kidney diseases; dialysis; kidney transplant; and hypertension. Dr Swami’s interests also include nutrition management including TPN (Total Parenteral Nutrition). He is also a clinical assistant professor of medicine at OUWB School of Medicine. Dr Swami is fluent in English and Hindi.
Dr. Shallu Sahore
Dr. Shallu Sahore received her bachelors of science at The University of Michigan, Ann Arbor and her medical degree from Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine. She completed residency in internal medicine at Beaumont Health System and went onto complete a prestigious nephrology fellowship at George Washington University Hospital in Washington, DC. Her interests include all aspects of general nephrology as well as advanced hypertension management, kidney transplant, and dialysis. As a native Michigander, she was anxious to come back home and serve her community. She joined Kidney Specialists of Michigan in August 2016. Dr. Sahore is known for her outgoing personality, empathetic disposition and dedication to patient care.
Outside of her practice, Dr. Sahore enjoys running, traveling and spending time with her husband and family. She is fluent in English and Hindi.
Pat Krause, NP
Pat Krause is a certified Nephrology Nurse Practitioner. She is a graduate of Oakland University School of Nursing. She has been working in the nephrology field for more than 17 years. She has been instrumental in developing CAPD education program to train nursing staff in skilled care facilities, as well as developing pre –ESRD patient education program.
She is compassionate and thorough. She has special interest in managing and caring for patients with ESRD on hemodialysis.
